My Hero Amitabh Bachchan: A Fan’s Inspiration

“Mr. Bachchan is a force to be reckoned with, an inspiration that has driven me to chase my dreams and pursue my passion.” – @iambollywoodbaba

Amitabh Bachchan is my hero – I have been a fan of his ever since I can remember. Growing up, I watched all his films and was deeply inspired by him. I would often enact his dialogues and scenes with my friends, always playing the part of Amitabh Bachchan. I was so crazy about him that I would watch his films repeatedly on VCR, and even went to my dad’s boss’s house to watch his entire collection of Amitabh Bachchan movies.

One day, my dad’s boss’s wife, whom we fondly called Pammi Aunty, told me that she knew Amitabh Bachchan’s mother, Teji Bachchan, and that she would take me to meet him one day. Unfortunately, fate had other plans and she passed away before we could make the visit.

Despite this setback, Amitabh Bachchan continued to inspire me to become an actor when I grew up. He has been my guiding light, knowingly or unknowingly, and I don’t need to look towards any motivational coach for inspiration.

As a teenager, I once got into a fight with an older and stronger guy who had beaten me up. But I remembered Amitabh Bachchan’s character in Amar Akbar Anthony and used one of his dialogues to intimidate the guy. It worked, and he left me alone.

Although I did get to take an autograph from Amitabh Bachchan once on his film set and saw him a few times when I worked as a paparazzo, I am even more inspired by him now when I see how he works. His disciplined life and energy on sets even in his 80s make him the Super Star he has always been.

Yesterday, I learned that he injured himself on the set of Project K in Hyderabad. He shared the news on his blog, writing: “During an action shot, I have got injured – rib cartilage popped broke and muscle tear to the right rib cage, canceled shoot, did Doctor consult and scan by CT at the AIG Hospital in Hyderabad and flown back home. Strapping has been done and rest been advocated. Yes painful. On movement and breathing, will take some weeks they say before some normalization will occur. Some medication is on also for pain.”

He also requested that fans not gather outside his home as he is resting and recovering. As a well-wisher and fan, I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on set soon. Love you, Mr. Bachchan. – @iambollywoodbaba
